Why do other stars have really cool names like Sirius or Polaris but we just call ours "the sun"?

Yeah!!!! Or like the next closest is Alpha Centauri, that's cool too! And we get 'sun'. woopty doo. And how come other plantets moons get cool names, like "io" and "titan", but our's is just 'moon'. Again, woopty friggen doo!
