On my tv via HDMI-DVI adapter, a shadow(or ghost) is displayed with everything to the right a little. Help plz?

I have an Advent HT3061a. I got the adapter from Best Buy-it was an open box item for $5.99, original price $59.99. The shadow(or ghost) is only displayed on the DVI input, component doesn't have it. Is there anything I can do? It may be the adapter and i've tried 2 different cords of the same model.
